Women’s Fashion Trends SS13

← Back to Blog

Well hello there everyone and welcome to Cheltenham Fashion Week 2013! As blog editor for CFW I am lucky enough to be able to get all my thoughts, opinions and loves down on paper (well, blog!) and share with you all!

So for my first post I am going to be giving you the round-up of what’s hot this season. The low down on the women’s fashion trends SS13.

SS13 fashion has swept in on a cool, refreshing breeze. Gone is the gaudy embellishment of AW12 (which, personally I love! But…must remember…change is good!) and in its place; pared down precise styling.

Structure is big this season. Whether it be sharp suiting or the slouch-luxe look, the simple clean lines, oversized and softly tailored, these looks are remarkably easy to wear yet so chic they will blow your socks off.

Even though we’ve seen these trends in previous seasons, this time round they’re different. No overt androgygy, just fabulously crafted clothes, made to enhance the feminine form.

The next trend gleaming onto the scene is the pure brilliance of lustrous shiny looks! Magical metallics, foil fabrics and pearly pieces make this one of my all time favourite trends for Spring Summer.

The next craze that’s sweeping the fashion world is blooming marvellous if I do say so myself! Floral prints are on everything from dresses to draws, hats to handbags. There’s a nod to the sixties with oversized daisies in boxy jackets and decidedly more sophisticated air with lace bouquets and pretty peonies embroidered and embellished onto long gowns.

Floral prints looked incredible in bright colours, but equally as good in the next SS look; head-to-toe white. Anything and everything from lace to broderie anglaise was worked in white. My personal favourites were the sharp suits and structured tailoring.

In complete contrast, it’s a black out for my next big thing. Sombre sophistication is the key! Blacker is better this season, and not just for night-time – summer dress, sandals and sweaters make this trend super wearable for daytime too.

Bold graphics are big this season, from checkerboards to stripes, patterns have taken on a simple but dramatic look.

This leads me to the final three trends: flirty frills, tales from the orient and plastic fantastic! Each of them playful yet sexy and equally as beautiful!

Stay tuned for each of our keys trends in depth over the coming weeks! Which will you be buying into? For me, it has to be slouch-luxe and floral!
